Where does the poop go?

Potty training is sometimes as hard as having a newborn. I would know since I have one of those too. Aiden decided that he was ready out of the blue the other day. My excitement was met with exhaustion after one day of keeping up with the demands of it all. I can't believe we are at this point. I feel like he was just a baby yesterday and now he is picking what he wants to wear, talking up a storm, drinking out of a cup and going potty.

We are doing great with number one. The first time he went number two wasn't so successful. It was a two and a half day stand off. Silly me thought I could jump in the shower to look half way decent for the birthday party we were heading too. I lost. We all lost. Even the toilet when that poor thing got jammed up from Aiden making himself wait so long. So it was a morning of plunging and cleaning underwear for me.

Yesterday went much better! Aiden got a huge gift from us because we thought once he did it once he wouldn't be so afraid. I know he will still have accidents. I would be lying if I said he didn't this morning when I was in the shower. So I guess the best idea for now is No SHOWERS! So next time you see me with frizzy hair and a certain not so clean smell, you will know why.

  1. Oh, I feel for ya! I really do.

My second born and I had a stand-off about #2 for at least 3 months. I would make her sit and sit on the toilet and then she would go hide while I was doing something other than watching her like a hawk (you just can't watch them close enough). You are on the right track with the big toy, but if he is hiding and going poop, I would take it away, put it where he can see it and give it back when he has done the poop/toilet thing again. He'll figure it out. That's what finally worked for us. That, and we discovered she didn't like being watched. Now she has to be alone and she calls when she needs to be wiped.

Bliss is a well potty-trained child! It's worth the work. Keep it up.

This too shall pass. Ehem. Sorry about that.
